About us

Calder Food Support was created in 2022 in response to the Cost of Living crisis. There was concern that existing food banks were difficult for some people to reach, especially those with mobility problems or young children. We wanted to set up small, local, food distribution points that were easily accessible and were there to lend a hand to anyone finding it hard to make ends meet. No referral or vouchers are required - CFS takes people at their word. When we are approached for help, we do what we can. We have a team of approximately forty volunteers, led by nine committee members, of which five are trustees. Last year, their work and our sponsorship enabled Calder Food Support to distribute almost 2,500 food parcels.
